Classical Chinese Dance at 2018 Qatar National Day
A unique fusion of Chinese and Qatari cultural elements
Celebrated annually on 18th December, the Qatar National Day commemorates the unification of the State of Qatar in 1878. The Katara Culture Village in Doha is built to share cultures and nurture understanding and peace. Each year, Katara organises multicultural events and activities for the National Day celebrations.
In 2018, Guoying Stacy Zhang, in collaboration with the Shanghai Theatre Academy and teams from China, the Middle East, and Europe, brought Classical Chinese fan dance of the best quality to the Qatar National Day celebrations at the Katara Culture Village. The final performance, with its fantastic costumes and music, was a unique fusion of Chinese and Qatari cultural elements.
