Feminine and Spiritual: Buddhist Women in Hong Kong
To add a spiritual dimension to feminist discourse and reveal the spiritual facet of Hong Kong
The interview series "Feminine and Spiritual: Buddhist Women in Hong Kong" explores the lives of five Buddhist women in Hong Kong. The interviewees also introduce us to Buddhist centres of different traditions in Hong Kong and invite their masters to share the Buddhist teachings about women.
Together we seek answers to our questions, "What does it mean to be a woman?", "What does it mean to be a Buddhist?" in our time. Meanwhile, we are able to pull together a spiritual map of Hong Kong; an aspect of the city that is unknown to many.
As a part of our exploration, we also aim to add a spiritual dimension to contemporary feminist discussions that originated in the West and are taking place globally.
We dedicate this project to all women in the world, regardless of your cultural or spiritual background. We also dedicate this project to all sentient beings that have come into this world. Wish all a life of peace and awakening.
The interview series is produced by Buddhistdoor Global, directed/written/hosted by Guoying Stacy Zhang.
